The latest addition to Auckland Eye's ophthalmologist team is Dr Chi-Ying Chou. Dr Chou specialises in cornea/anterior segment and glaucoma, as well as refractive cataract surgery. During his training Chou worked as a registrar in Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga and Rotorua and then moved on to work as a specialist consultant at Greenlane Clinical Centre and Waitakere Hospital.

Dr Dean Corbett is delighted to welcome him on board. “He is a perfect fit for our group; providing exceptional surgical and diagnostic skills with a wonderful patient empathy and rapport. His ability to communicate in Mandarin and Cantonese is a significant benefit for our patients.”

“I’m excited and humbled to be joining the Auckland Eye family and continuing to work with my mentors and long-term colleagues, many of whom I have formed close bonds from day-one in my ophthalmology training,” said Dr Chou.

Dr Chou will consult at Auckland Eye in Remuera, New Lynn, Takapuna and East Care Manukau. As well as speaking Mandarin and Cantonese, he is also fluent in Taiwanese.

Optometrist Surekha Parag has also joined Auckland Eye. Parag practiced in Melbourne for seven years after finishing her postgraduate training in ocular therapeutics in 2009 at the University of Auckland. Parag returned to Auckland in 2017 and has found her niche working alongside ophthalmologists. Under Dr Corbett’s guidance, Parag helped set up Oasis Dry Eye Spa in early 2018, which has been her primary focus ever since.
