Chairside reference for diabetes

Australia’s Centre for Eye Health (CFEH) has created a chairside reference which optometrists can download, print and keep handy, to help them manage diabetic patients in everyday practice.

Early detection can help to prevent diabetes-related complications such as vision impairment due to diabetic retinopathy. With an estimated half a million undiagnosed type 2 diabetics in Australia, Diabetes Australia aims to encourage people over 40 years of age to be tested. It is thought that there are also probably around 100,000 undiagnosed diabetics in New Zealand.
