The World Council of Optometry (WCO) has chosen Australia as the host country for its 4th congress to be held in 2021, to run in partnership with O=Mega21 in Melbourne.

O=Mega organisers, Optometry Victoria South Australia and the Optical Distributors and Manufacturers of Australia (ODMA), submitted the winning global tender, supported by the Melbourne Convention Bureau.

ODMA chairman Robert Sparkes said: “We are excited about collaborating with the World Council of Optometry and hosting WCO4 during O=Mega’s second stellar conference.”

Incoming president of the World Council of Optometry Paul Folkesson said, “I’m delighted that the WCO is heading Down Under. We had a very strong international field of contenders wanting to host WCO4 and the Melbourne bid was exceptional. I have no doubt the Australians have the experience, infrastructure and professionalism to deliver an outstanding event.”

WCO4 and O=Mega21 will be held at the Melbourne Convention Centre from the 2-4 September 2021.
