Launched in Europe, just a few days before the RANZCO NZ meeting, Quantel Medical’s new Capsulo Nd:YAG laser was a key talking point on Titan Optical’s stand. One of its unique features is the height-adaptable light tower, allowing ophthalmologists to adjust it for different procedures as needed, said Titan’s Cam Gordon. “It’s a hugely flexible platform.”

According to Lumibird Group, Quantel’s parent company, the Capsulo is designed to be a fully integrated, versatile laser platform, enabling efficient and accurate capsulotomy and iridotomy treatments. “Capsulo is built with exclusive high-quality optics delivering pristine clarity of view into the anterior and posterior segments of the eye. Advanced illumination with a variable-height light tower offers dual illumination angles of 16° and 7.5° for anterior and posterior laser applications," said Matthew Metcalfe, Lumibird’s anterior segment laser product manager at the launch.

As well as high quality optics and dual height illumination, it also has an advanced two-point green aiming beam for rapid and precise tissue targeting, requiring only minimum energy levels, said Gordon. “It's ideal for smaller surgeries and satellite clinics and, when paired with a Vitra 2 photocoagulator, it basically gives you all you need in one easy unit on one table.”
