Gal Gadot, the Israeli actress who took up the lasso of Wonder Woman, revealed she was suffering from photophobia during the filming of Justice League (2017). Thirty-six-year-old Gadot told W Magazine that she developed severe migraines with painful light sensitivity, which led her to start wearing sunglasses indoors. "I would show up in dark glasses and they all thought I was going Hollywood, but it turned out I was only pregnant."

The 2004 Miss Israel and former Israel Defense Forces soldier was encouraged to audition for the role of Bond girl Camille Montes in 2008’s Quantum of Solace, an opportunity she turned down in favour of studies in law and government. Eventually, she came around to the idea of acting and in 2009 joined the cast of the Fast & Furious franchise, followed by her breakthrough leading role as Diana Prince, aka Wonder Woman, in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016). In an interview with The Forward, Gadot said her background helped her win the role of Gisele in Fast & Furious, "I think the director Justin Lin really liked that I was in the military, and he wanted to use my knowledge of weapons."
