WCO hosts global myopia management virtual event

Advancing efforts to establish a global myopia management standard of care, the World Council of Optometry (WCO) is partnering with CooperVision to host a virtual myopia management seminar on 12 February 2022.  

 

Among the optometrist speakers is Dr Carmen Abesamis-Dichoso (Philippines), University of Waterloo School of Optometry, recipient of the IACLE Educator Fellowship Programme, who has lectured extensively internationally on myopia management. Also speaking will be Dr Thomas Aller (United States), a specialist in myopia control and ortho-k and a regular contributor to the development of innovative treatments; Philip Cheng (Australia), who specialises in ortho-k, myopia control, children’s optometry, speciality contact lenses and dry-eye management; and Dr Kate Gifford (Australia), who’s also a clinician-scientist, peer educator and a co-founder of Myopiaprofile.com. Dr Gifford is the committee chair and lead author on the International Myopia Institute’s Clinical Management Guidelines. Professor Nicola Logan (United Kingdom), Aston University College of Health and Life Sciences, researches the development and progression of myopia in children and runs a clinical service for the condition’s management and will share her perspective.
