Mercury Bay optometrist Brett Howes has written and released his latest composition Lovelight, sung by New Zealand singer-song writer and Kiwi Indie music champion LA Thompson (aka Shirley Howe).

When not an optometrist, specialising in sports vision and soft contact lenses, Howes has been creating music for 20 years and recording pieces for about 11 years.

Described as a soulful ballad, Lovelight came to him at a close friend’s funeral. He wrote a few lyrics and chord sequences during the service and completed it later in collaboration with pianist Kevin Crowe, to honour his dear friend, he said. Hear the song for yourself here.
