UK-based Okko Health has launched a new app allowing eye care practitioners (ECPs) to monitor their patients’ eyes remotely.

Developed by vision scientists, optometrists and ophthalmologists, the app instructs patients to tap on visual cues and pattern anomalies to assess their visual acuity and contrast sensitivity. It uses a secure online portal for ECPs to access readings and identify patients needing help.

Founder, Dr Stephanie Campbell said she is optimistic about the positive impact the software will have on vulnerable patients. “With our app, they can now track key indicators of their eye health from the safety of their own homes. I have no doubt this technology will be a sight-saver for many.”
