Paediatrics and genetics specialist Dr Sarah Hull has joined the team at Auckland Eye.
“I am so delighted to have Sarah join us,” said Auckland Eye’s Dr Justin Mora. “Sarah trained in ophthalmology in the UK and joined us for a paediatric fellowship in mid-2019. She proved to be such an asset that we were thrilled when she decided to stay in Auckland rather than return to the UK. The fact she has had the good sense to marry a Kiwi may have played a part in that.”
Dr Hull’s appointment will ensure continuous provision of comprehensive children’s eyecare well into the future, said Dr Mora. “She is a kind, caring person with an eye for detail and a determination to do everything she can for her patients. As well as being a fabulous general ophthalmologist and cataract surgeon she is one of the best paediatric ophthalmology doctors I have had the pleasure to work with. She has a particular interest in genetics, which we welcome and which she will continue to work on through her part-time role at the university.”
Born and bred in Manchester, UK, Dr Hull worked as a specialist registrar at several hospitals across London, including Moorfields, before coming to New Zealand. “I have been incredibly fortunate to have learned from and trained with some of the world’s most renowned specialists. It’s what drives me to bring my best self to work every day,” she said. “My favourite part of the job is getting to know the people and families I work with and being able to provide them with the most advanced treatment, so they can get on with living happy and fulfilled lives.”
Outside of work, Dr Hull’s two young daughters keep her busy, she said, adding that she loves adventure and takes any chance she can to explore the Hauraki Gulf or travel to new places.
Dr Hull is now consulting at Auckland Eye’s Remuera and Takapuna surgeries.
