Myopia management and efficacy, alongside indigenous eye health, will be in the spotlight at O=Mega23, in partnership with the 4th World Congress of Optometry (WCO), taking place in Melbourne from 8-10 September.
The founders of education platform Myopia Profile, husband and wife optometrist team Drs Paul and Kate Gifford, will present ‘Unanswered questions in myopia management’, while international plenary speaker Professor Mark Bullimore, University of Houston College of Optometry, US, will share insights to support local practitioners in limiting the effects of high myopia.
Also on the programme – and a legal requirement for the optometry profession in Australia since October 2022 – is the delivery of culturally safe eyecare. Recognising the significance of cultural diversity and inclusivity, the conference will address some of the unique challenges faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in relation to eye health in a series of lectures and workshops.
