RANZCO has set up The Future of Ophthalmology Taskforce, an independent advisory committee to look at how artificial intelligence (AI) will shape the future of ophthalmology.

Chaired by Professor Nitin Verma, the taskforce will provide RANZCO with recommendations on how future changes should be managed, as well as providing AI education for fellows.

Committee member Dr Narme Deva said she is looking forward to being part of the group. “I hope it will be very useful to put the technology that we are going to be faced with into context.”

To date, the taskforce has put together a white paper, responded to open consultations and will deliver presentations at upcoming branch meetings.
