Gabi Hollows honoured

Order of Australia recipient Gabi Hollows, co-founder and director of The Fred Hollows Foundation, has been named one of Australia’s 25 most influential social sector leaders by the Impact 25 Awards.  

 

The Judge’s Choice Award for Collaboration is a recognition of Hollows life’s work which, together with her late husband Fred Hollows, has been dedicated to restoring sight to people who are needlessly blind and vision impaired, the judges said 

 

Hollows, an orthoptist by training, said she was honoured to be named among some of Australia’s finest social champions who are making a difference to the world’s most disadvantagedFor me, a world in which no person is needlessly blind has always been the end goal. If we can work ourselves out of a job, then our work is done.” 

 

The Impact 25 awards recognises the most influential people in the Australian social sector and were presented at a virtual ceremony on 31 March 2021.
