New directors

Natalie Wong and Marama Lambert have joined the ownership team of Barry & Sargent in Porirua, Wellington, after working for the business for many years. The two join long-standing business partners Geoff Sargent (who will be retiring in the foreseeable future) and Richard Shanks.

“We love that we have so many long-standing patients, many who mention they have been coming to Barry & Sargent since they were teenagers,” says Wong. While the business is approaching 100 years as a practice, she says, one reason it is successful is that it has kept adapting to changes in the industry over the years. “We all work really well together and each have different clinical strengths which makes it a great practice to work in.”

Wong and Lambert say as new co-owners they are looking forward to challenges outside of clinical optometry and the chance to keep innovating in an ever-changing industry.
