Periscope specs give short people a lift

Standing on tiptoes could become a thing of the past for the vertically-challenged thanks to British designer Dominic Wilcox’s invention - periscope glasses.

“I was standing at a gig and saw a small woman dancing away, but she was unable to see the band. This gave me the inspiration to design a way for people to see over obstacles such as tall people like me,” Dominic said.

The glasses are made from a sheet of mirrored acrylic precisely angled to enable wearers to see one foot above their usual height.

Microsoft Surface challenged artist and designer Wilcox to provide ‘Extraordinary Solutions to Everyday Problems’ ahead of an exhibition named as such, which was held in London last month.
