Silhouette and Fleye’s latest designs have been recognised at the German Design Awards (GDA) announced late last year.

Silhouette was awarded for models TMA Unify and Atelier Titanium meets Gold, for their unique design, exclusive materials and high-level of craftsmanship required to bring them to life, said the GDA judges. The jury was impressed by TMA Unify’s new integrated glazing technology, creating a seamless merge of the frame’s individual elements, they said. Only available in Europe and the US, these Silhouette models are made from titanium plated with 23-carat gold and combined with solid 18-carat yellow or white gold.

FLEYE Fox

Fleye’s sunglass model Fox received the ‘Special Mention’ award for its excellent product design in the lifestyle and fashion category. The jury was particularly impressed with the overall adaptability of the frame for individual wearers, said the judges, highlighting Fox’s lively, playful and sturdy design, which is handcrafted with three visible layers of a hard density cellulose acetate and beta-titanium. Fleye founder and designer Annette Estø said the company was “beyond excited” to win the award. “The German Design Award confirms our efforts to become better and better, and feels like a huge pounding of the back, which just encourages us to reach the next level."
