All University of Auckland first year students can now take a general course in human vision.
Convened by Associate Professor Sam Schwarzkopf, Professor Steven Dakin and Dr Misha Vorobyev, the new OPTOM-101G How We See course invites first-years from across the university to explore how sight became our dominant sense, the nature of perception and issues faced by individuals who experience loss of vision.
Current breakthroughs in machine vision and what paintings tell us about artists’ visual experiences will be covered, as well as how we use our eyes to complete a simple task or interpret a beautiful view.
