Following a death, five cases of vision loss, and hospitalisations, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have warned consumers and healthcare practitioners to immediately discontinue use of EzriCare Artificial Tears and Delsam Pharma Artificial Tears eyedrops.
Packaging of Global Pharma Healthcare’s two recalled eyedrop brands
Although the over-the-counter drops, manufactured by Global Pharma Healthcare Private Limited, are intended to be sterile, some have been associated with carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections. Global Pharma issued a voluntary global recall of all within-expiry lots of these drops, including EzriCare, which is available online in New Zealand.
