The 9th World Glaucoma Congress (WGC) will be held from 30 June to 3 July 2021 as a virtual conference hosted by the Japan Glaucoma Society (JGS).

“Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we will not be able to host the meeting in Kyoto as planned, but we’re proud to announce that we have created the first-ever online glaucoma congress. JGS is working together with the World Glaucoma Association to make this congress a fruitful experience for all participants and we look forward to sharing the newest discoveries in glaucoma on a wide variety of topics,” said co-organiser and JGS chair Professor Makoto Aihara from Tokyo University.

WGC 2021, themed Beyond Borders, will offer educational exchanges, scientific news and best-practice updates. It will cover the basic science and genetics of glaucoma to the latest developments in the medical and surgical management of the condition, said organisers. The four-day congress will also include plenary sessions, symposiums, interactive courses, virtual wet labs and more.
