Launched at 100% Optical, UK brand Bird Eyewear has developed new low-carbon optical frames in a mix of bioplastics and recycled materials.

The company’s new styles have an impact of just 113g of CO2, representing less carbon emissions than using a smartphone for one hour, said founder Ed Bird. The ‘From nature for nature’ range is in keeping with values which will aid the success of optical stores, added Bird. “Fashion is often said to both reflect and lead culture. We believe the industry has a once-in-history opportunity to demonstrate that creativity and respect for nature can lead to authentic sustainability.”

Each style is named after a bird and comes with an eco-friendly case and packaging.
