Dry eye was the focus for Titan Optical’s Cam Gordon, who shared a table with Medix21’s Camille Furnandiz at CCLS. In the spotlight was Rayner’s co-marketed Aeon pre- and post-surgery eye drops to help manage dry eye disease (DED), and OcuSci’s new eye mask and meibomian gland treatment kit, MGrx.
The MGrx System is a manual thermal treatment kit requiring no consumables and proven to be as effective as intense pulsed light therapy in clinical studies, said Gordon. “It’s a quick, portable and easy to use all-in-one device delivering thermal debridement, thermal massage and expression. With no disposables and no per-treatment cost it’s an attractive option for optometrists expanding into dry eye service and for mobile clinics.”
USB-chargeable eye mask
OcuSci has also released a heat mask for DED treatment. OcuSci claims it’s highly effective, with one case study of a 47-year-old male showing a 123% increase in tear break-up time (5.7 to 12.68 seconds) after just five days of use. Thanks to its patented hydroblock coating, it delivers 10 minutes of moist, therapeutic heat after just 25 seconds in the microwave, said Gordon. “It’s also chargeable with an USB cable, so if you have no access to a microwave, you can bring it with you and not disrupt your treatment routine.”
The cover is machine-washable and the eye mask comes with a one-year warranty.
