Silhouette has partnered with aspiring American astronaut Alyssa Carson, featuring its Titan Minimal Art collection.
Dreaming of becoming the first human on Mars, the 21-year-old visionary said she relies on corrective eyewear. With Silhouette’s mission to support young and empowered women, it offered the perfect partnership.
Carson said she’s had the ambition to become an astronaut since the age of three. Having attended several international space camps in the US, Canada and Turkey, she is the youngest person to be accepted into the Advanced PoSSUM* Space Academy, an educational programme for aspiring astronauts. In parallel with her current training, Carson is studying astrobiology at the Florida Institute of Technology.
Debuting in 1999, Silhouette’s Titan Minimal Art collection makes lightness a core feature. The company’s innovative, high-tech titanium eyewear has already been worn by 73 astronauts on missions totalling 86,833 hours. Resistant to elevated g-forces, the designs also retain a perfect, flexible fit in zero-gravity conditions, while its hingeless and screwless design reduces the danger of parts becoming loose in space.
