EssilorLuxottica Australia New Zealand has launched Essilor Stellest lenses, designed to correct vision and slow myopia progression.

Clinical trial results show after two years, on average, Stellest lenses worn 12 hours per day slow myopia progression by 67%, compared to standard single-vision lenses. Myopia correction is achieved through a single-vision lens that allows sharp far vision and myopia control through Essilor’s highly aspherical lenslet target (HALT) technology. A constellation of 1,021 lenslets spread on 11 rings direct non-focused light to the front of the retina, following its shape and keeping the eye-elongation process in check.

The Australian and New Zealand launch of Stellest will no doubt provide new innovation for ECPs to help correct vision and fight myopia progression in children, said Marco Caccini, general manager wholesale ANZ at EssilorLuxottica. “With more than 30 years of research and development experience in myopia, Essilor is proud to be at the forefront of myopia management with innovative solutions to help support better vision and eye health for children with myopia later in life. Essilor Stellest lenses now offer children the dual benefit of myopia correction and control, without any aesthetic compromise.”

Essilor Stellest lenses are suitable for a variety of paediatric frames. While current clinical results are based on children from eight to 13 years old, the lenses can be recommended for those aged six to 16 years, said the company.
