Silmo d’Or winner Skugga Technologies has vowed to transform the eyewear sector with its miniaturised smart technology.
The Swedish company said its wearable technology solution, a winner in the technological innovation/connected products category, is a simple, fully scalable platform and ecosystem compatible with any kind of fashion frame.
For the wearer, the technology provides access to Bluetooth, motion- and environmental-sensor data, LEDs for notification and navigation, plus connectivity with apps such as health trackers. Open to all developers, the platform is integrated into a miniature device fitting acetate, 3D-printed polymer and injection plastic frames, without requiring the brand to compromise its design DNA, style or material quality, according to Skugga. The module is fully functional out-of-the-box, with electronics, battery and integrated quality hinges from Visottica Comotec.
While a joint collection with McLaren Vision was exhibited at Silmo, Skugga said it’s developing smartglasses for other global players, with launches planned for 2023.
