Paul McCartney recently confirmed he was a fan of eye yoga. Discussing his eye exercise routine on the podcast Table Manners, he said, “When I was in India, there was a guy at one of the hotels who taught you to do eye exercises… it’s just muscles like anywhere else and we don’t use them well enough.”
In a YouTube video, he demonstrates a series of vertical and horizontal eye movements then switches between gazing at distant objects and the palm of his hand. “I do it in the park sometimes, when walking the dog and people think I'm really weird,” he told the Table Manners hosts. Not only does he credit the practice with preserving his own eyesight, he claims he’s spared others years of spectacle wearing. “A friend of mine (said his) daughter is gonna go and get some specs. I said, ‘Well, before she goes, let me show you this.” McCartney then scribbled down his eye yoga routine to pass on to her. “She didn't need specs for quite a few years; it really improved her eyesight,” he said. “It all makes sense, you know? That's why I don't need glasses when I'm reading a newspaper or book.”
