Large, US-based optics, eye health and eyewear group, VSP Global has partnered with eye-tracking technology firm Right Eye to expand new vision testing solutions for optometry.

Announcing the investment last year, the companies said the partnership will explore the expansion of cutting-edge vision care solutions designed to strengthen the relationship between patients and their practitioners.

Right Eye is a health technology company that uses eye tracking and gaming as innovative vision tests for assessing eye sight, concussion and other brain and head injuries and reading and learning disorders. The game-based vision tests require users to sit and follow graphics on a screen and range from tracking a dot around or identifying and blowing up aliens invading the Earth.

Right Eye claims the resulting report, generated within minutes of a patient finishing a test, gives optometrists an objective, measurable way to view the quality of a patient’s visual speed and accuracy, visual processing, depth perception, dry eye and more. The software can also track the success of remedies such as vision therapy, said Jon Schuller, senior public relations specialist at VSP Global.

“VSP Global supports technological advancements that increase the value and utilisation of vision benefits, extends access and strengthens the tie between a patient and their optometrist… to help deliver a more enhanced patient experience.”
