1978
March 1978, Issue #1, NZ Optics founded as New Zealand's first dedicated trade publication for the ophthalmic community.
1981
April 1981, the magazine was purchased from Barbara Vague in by a PR Company whose client at the time was The New Zealand Optical Wholesalers Association. Suzanne Dale was employed as the Editor and Maryanne Dransfield the Advertising Rep.
1985
The PR Company ceased operation and NZ Optics was taken over by Maryanne Dransfield, running it on her own from an office at home. Stories were written, taken to Parnell and typeset by City Typesetters, and the galleys laid up back in the office (usually after hours)
1998
Maryanne's son, Kyle, joins the business and by the late 90's the production of the magazine was transformed with the launch of Pagemaker by Adobe.
