Device Technologies NZ is introducing a new Oertli phacoemulsification system designed to save consumables costs and the environment.

Oertli Instrument’s Faros phaco system features innovative technology, making it cost-effective to use while reducing the carbon footprint of every single cataract surgery, said Device Technologies’ Diego Sonderegger, adding these benefits also apply to Oertli’s CataRhex 3 system. “Both systems are produced exclusively at Oertli’s Swiss state-of-the-art manufacturing facility to strict European and international environmental standards. Their in-house manufacturing not only ensures greater control over production and quality control, but importantly avoids transportation between different production sites, thus reducing CO2 emissions.”

Considerable cost savings can be achieved without compromise to performance through the design of the fully reusable consumables, including the I/A vacuum cassettes and tubings, said Sonderegger. “These innovations all help surgeons to reduce the current CO2 emissions and non-recyclable waste associated with cataract surgery.”

The CataRhex 3 system will be on display at the RANZCO NZ branch meeting in Blenheim.
