PBO Group expands in Bay of Plenty

Waikato’s Paterson Burn Optometrists (PBO) Group has acquired Fraser Street Optometrists in Tauranga, doubling the group’s holdings in the Bay of Plenty, following the purchase of Colleen Saunders Optometrists late last year.

PBO Group CEO Cale Stevenson said moving into the Bay of Plenty made sense from both a business perspective and because of similar synergies represented by the regions. “We believe Fraser Street and Colleen Saunders Optometrists will be able to support each other quite closely and we look forward to helping them continue their great work in the region.”

The Fraser Street acquisition came about as owner Albert de la Hunt was looking to sell to someone sharing his values and approached PBO Group founder Adrian Paterson and Stevenson to gauge interest.

“The move to purchase Fraser Street aligned with the PBO Group in many ways, including the opportunity to ensure it continued to operate as an independent, locally owned business with its current health focus,” said Stevenson. “Albert has a long history of servicing the Tauranga region and is also keen to keep working in the business, ensuring his team will be well looked after.”
