Stars and their eyes… Stephen Curry

American basketball superstar Stephen Curry, aged 33, has keratoconus. The Golden State Warriors legend, considered one of the greatest three-point shooters in National Basketball Association (NBA) history, was diagnosed with keratoconus in 2019 and is now using scleral lenses to help him see clearly.

Prior to diagnosis, Curry said he was constantly squinting to try and correct the astigmatism caused by keratoconus. “Over time, I certainly noticed my vision was deteriorating but I was still able to function and do what I needed to do,” he told ABC 7 News. After being diagnosed, Curry started wearing contacts and his shooting percentage is stronger than ever. “It feels like the whole world has opened up,” he said.
