Amazon introduces smart glasses

Amazon has launched Echo Frames, prescription-ready eyewear offering hands free access to Android’s Alexa and Google Assistant. Wearing the glasses, you can make and receive phone calls, set reminders, listen to podcasts and control compatible smart home devices.

Echo Frames are made from durable, lightweight material and are designed to look and feel like regular glasses, with no camera or display. The frames have four beamforming micro speakers that use Amazon open-ear audio technology to direct sound towards the ears and minimising noise heard by others, with a disable button to allow privacy.

Initially available ‘by invitation only’ for US $179.99, Amazon can fit the Echo Frames with prescription or sunglass lenses to create the ultimate ‘take-Alexa-everywhere' product.
