Invisible computing pioneer Mojo Vision, developer of the world’s first augmented reality (AR) contact lens has partnered with contact lens manufacturer Menicon.
The Mojo Lens is a breakthrough smart lens, which can overlay images, symbols and text on the wearer’s natural field of vision without obstructing the view, restricting mobility or hindering social interactions, said Mojo Vision.
Under the joint agreement, Menicon and Mojo will conduct a series of feasibility studies tapping into the expertise of each company, applying Menicon's experience in rigid gas permeable lens research, development and manufacturing to Mojo's smart contact lens microelectronics, systems integration and consumer products innovation.
“Mojo is an innovative company with a technology platform and a vision for the future of contact lens wear that aligns with Menicon’s aspirations,” said Menicon president Dr Hidenari Tanaka in a joint statement. “We believe that both companies can bring together skill sets and technologies that will support the successful development of a truly breakthrough product.”
If the feasibility studies prove successful, the two companies said they may consider a more extensive working relationship in the future.
