Leaving its original sole-practitioner model behind, Alex Petty’s Bay Eye Care has expanded, with Aidan Quinlan having joined the team.
Quinlan’s keen interest in many areas that Bay Eye Care specialises in – dry eye disease, specialty contact lenses and myopia control – make him a great fit for the role, said Petty. “Aidan immediately struck me as a young optometrist with great personal skills and someone who will be keen to go the extra mile for his patients. I think he will flourish in the personalised environment we try and create for patients and staff at Bay Eye Care and will be an asset to the practice for years to come.”
Auckland born and bred, Quinlan said he is excited to join Bay Eye Care and about the Bay of Plenty’s outdoorsy lifestyle. “The variety of clinical specialties Bay Eye Care provides to patients will prove a challenging and interesting start to my optometry career. It also gives me the opportunity to learn from and develop under the guidance of Alex Petty, which will be invaluable.”
Quinlan will initially refine his experience and skills in Bay Eye Care’s speciality areas, splitting his time between his own clinics and assisting and observing Petty during his specialty clinics, in a residency role of sorts. “There are a lot of complex areas to learn at Bay Eye Care, from scleral contact lens fitting to myopia control management decision-making, so having that opportunity to be on hand while I go through my normal day will be of tremendous value to Aidan’s development as a skilled specialty optometrist. He can then hit the ground running, managing all patients independently when we expand into our new two-consulting-room clinic later in the year,” said Petty.
