Introducing Transitions’ new extra-dark lenses

Transitions Optical has launched a new darker photochromic lens range, Transitions XTRActive Polarised and Transitions XTRActive. This new generation of lenses is designed to address the needs of patients frequently exposed to very bright and reflective light, and for those who are light sensitive.

“The darkness and dynamic polarisation of Transitions XTRActive are interdependent. As the lens darkens, the level of polarisation increases, reducing glare outdoors and providing a better vision experience. Vision is sharper, there is a larger field of view and colours are brighter and more vivid,” explained Stuart Cannon, Transitions Optical general manager, Asia Pacific. “In wearer tests, Transitions XTRActive new generation achieved an overall satisfaction rating of 98%. Compared to the previous Transitions XTRActive generation, it is 35% faster to fade back indoors, along with being darker in hot temperatures and darker in the car.”

When driving, Cannon added, the level of polarisation remains low (activates up to category 2) due to the UV-blocking effect of the car’s windscreen. It is the only photochromic lens to achieve category 3 sunglass at 35°C.

Both technologies offer high blue-light filtering both indoors and outdoors, along with 100% UV blockage. For educational material and point of sale materials, see www.transitions-plus.com. If you need to register, use the registration code NZOpticsXA.
