Hot on the heels of newly released three-year clinical data for its Acuvue Abiliti 1-Day contact lens, Johnson & Johnson Vision (J&J) has launched a series of myopia-focused educational dinners for optometrists across Australia and New Zealand.

In Auckland, J&J’s CPD-accredited session, ‘Beyond the Curve: Busting Myopia Myths & Elevating Modern Myopia Practice’, brought together practitioners keen to learn more about the technology and how to integrate myopia management into everyday practice.

The evening was hosted by Dr Emma Gillies, head of professional education and development at J&J Vision, and included a panel of speakers: keynote Associate Professor Noel Brennan, who played a key role in developing the Acuvue Abiliti 1-Day lenses; and optometrists Ryan Mahmoud and Gina Partridge. The programme included a review of Acuvue Abiliti 1-Day clinical data alongside discussion of fitting considerations and patient management.

J&J said its facilitated case discussions allowed attendees to work through real-world scenarios, including communicating with families, monitoring patients and documenting outcomes.
