He made it! Hawke’s Bay optometrist Niall McCormack has walked the length of New Zealand in one go to help raise funds to build an eye clinic in Shinyanga, Tanzania.
Speaking at the end of the 3,008km Te Araroa trail, which runs from Cape Reinga to Bluff, McCormack said he feels incredible. “It’s been such a commitment in terms of time and it’s been so demanding both physically and mentally that it feels just awesome to get to the finish line.” He’s still a little short of his fundraising target but is sure he can now make the much-needed Tanzania clinic a reality, he says.
