Oscar Wylee offers kids free eye tests

Eyewear company Oscar Wylee New Zealand is providing free eye tests for kids aged 5-17 years.

The initiative was developed to encourage kids and parents in the community to take care of their eye health, said company CEO Craig Levy. “We believe that all children, especially school-aged children, should have access to free eye tests. Vision is an important part of a child’s learning journey and if a child has trouble seeing, this can impact their ability to succeed, especially at school. That’s why we are excited to bring this service to New Zealand kids.”

The proposal will cover standard kids’ eye testing costs and under-18s will not be required to have a government concession card or meet any clinical requirements in Oscar Wylee stores; nor are there any obligations for customers to purchase products, Levy said.

Launched in Australia in 2012 as an online store, the current Oscar Wylee network comprises 135 stores across New Zealand, Australia and Canada.
