Entering a new digital era of refraction, OPSM is rolling out Essilor’s latest eyecare technology, Clarifye, offering patients a fully digital experience.
Good vision starts with accurate pre-screening, refraction and prescription, said Peter Murphy, director of eyecare and community, Luxottica Australia New Zealand. “A Clarifye digital eye exam collects more relevant data, provides a higher level of clinical care, and can refract to 0.01D*, which is a higher level of precision than traditional refraction techniques.”
The cornerstone of the Clarify suite is Essilor’s Vision-R 800 auto phoropter, said Murphy. “The Vision-R 800 reinvents refraction and can give you a more precise prescription than we’ve ever achieved before. It offers continuous power changes and makes refraction more precise while being easier to perform for the practitioner and more comfortable for the patient.”
While the collection of data is quicker than the traditional method, Murphy said it does not mean shorter appointments. “What it does mean is that our optometrists will have more time with the patient to understand their lifestyle needs and make more specific lens recommendations to ensure the best visual outcome.”
Digital exams are the next wave of healthcare, added James Melton, OPSM New Zealand director. “From precision to comfort, we want to ensure that patients coming to OPSM are receiving the best possible care and insights to optimise their eye health.”
At the time of writing, Clarifye eye tests were available at OPSM Botany Downs, Riccarton, Lambton Quay and Sylvia Park. Overall, over 50 Clarifye systems have been rolled out across Australia and New Zealand, said Melton, with OPSM looking to continue that momentum during 2022, aligning with refurbishment plans where possible.
