For this year’s Silmo d'Or, Silmo Paris has entrusted the presidency of its jury to Belgian industrial designer and creative director Joachim Froment.
An award-winning product designer, he is the co-founder and creative director of Futurewave, a design and technology studio working with renowned luxury and tech brands worldwide.
A graduate of the Royal College of Art in London, Froment said his work is rooted in the idea that industrial design can create a meaningful physical improvement for the 21st century. Combining scientific rigor, advanced manufacturing technologies and artistic sensitivity, he seeks to create durable, sustainable and forward-thinking objects.
“Through this presidency, the Silmo d’Or continues its ambition to explore creative territories where innovation, usage and emotion engage with the major transformations shaping today’s world,” organisers said. “Joachim Froment’s cross-disciplinary perspective, at the intersection of design, technology and human experience, will accompany an edition focused on creations that push the boundaries of innovation and shape the uses of tomorrow for contemporary optics.”
Silmo Paris 2026 is held from 25–28 September at Paris Nord Villepinte.
