Specsavers unveiled its 2019 autumn and winter collection during a wonderful April lunch at the White Room in Auckland’s upmarket suburb, Parnell. The gallery was bursting with bright colours, gorgeous looking models wearing colourful eyewear and a host of equally colourful fashion journalists.
Specsavers’ global head of design Stig Engelbreth Hansen had flown in from Hong Kong to introduce the bright and bold collection inspired by the current ‘90s revival seen on the runway, he said. “Glasses wearers are becoming more and more daring when it comes to selecting their frames. This season it’s all about the attitude and confidence that glasses can bring out in the wearer.”
Speaking on what trends strike a chord in different parts of the world, Hansen said while Brits love their bling, Scandinavians tend to favour the understated, minimalistic design, while his perception was very much that New Zealanders and Australians embrace colour.
Joining the Specsavers designer portfolio is a new iconic and colourful range from Parisian design powerhouse, Kenzo, while British fashion brand Red or Dead unveiled a cutting-edge collection of glasses featuring interchangeable arms.
