Specsavers Queenstown, run by optometrist Aaron Irvine and retail partner Leigh Jackson, is the 2020 recipient of the Specsavers ANZ Doug Perkins Medal, recognising consistently high standards of clinical excellence and patient care.

Specsavers Massey, Riccarton Westfield, Timaru and Dunedin were also finalists for the award, representing the top 4% of all Specsavers’ New Zealand stores. The finalists were selected against Specsavers’ benchmark criteria, patient feedback and health outcomes.

Introduced in 2018, in honour of Specsavers’ founder, The Doug Perkins Medal recognises outstanding performance in delivering exceptional patient outcomes, consistent positive patient feedback, a focus on education and training, delivering consistent quality eye care, a commitment to accessible eye health and collaborative engagement with medicine. It is presented to one New Zealand and one Australian store each year.
