Australian brand AM Eyewear said it has been overwhelmed with requests from all over the world to re-release a pair of limited-edition sunnies sported by actor Johnny Depp during his defamation trial with ex-wife Amber Heard. The style, Ava in Mellow Yellow, is appearing online at inflated prices, with one pair being offered for AU$2,000 on eBay.

“After much consideration, we have decided not to re-release any of our limited editions. It would go against the purpose of what they represent, (which is) to give our AM family products that are truly unique and exclusive,” said AM Eyewear founder Simon Ponnusamy.

Depp, featured in NZ Optics in December 2020, is severely myopic and nearly blind in his left eye and is often seen wearing his signature tinted prescription glasses.
