The Lighthouse Vision Trust has farewelled occupational therapist Gail Hughes and optometrist John Veale, who tirelessly served the Christchurch low vision community at Burwood Hospital’s Low Vision Clinic for 15 and 30-plus years, respectively.
Lighthouse Vision Trust chair, Dr Mark Elder, clinical associate professor in ophthalmology at the University of Otago, officiated at the event thanking Hughes and Veale for their commitment. “John and Gail have both devoted endless time and energy to the visually impaired of the region and fundamentally changed thousands of lives for the better," he said.
