ODA offers Kiwi DOs CPD

April 19, 2024 Staff reporters

New Zealand dispensing opticians (DOs) can now earn CPD points accredited by the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Board (ODOB) by joining Optical Dispensers Australia’s (ODA's) Webinar Wednesday live sessions or by watching pre-recorded webinars.

ODA has committed to offer a minimum of 10 CPD points per year through the live sessions, plus an opportunity to earn additional points through watching approved webinars in its members-only webinar library, said ODA CEO April Petrusma. ODA welcomes members with all levels of experience, from trainee optical assistants to qualified DOs and optometry staff, she said. “ODA’s CPD programme is not like any other. It has been designed specifically for optical dispensers and dispensing opticians that have a genuine interest in developing their knowledge and enhancing their existing skills. The topics are carefully curated to current industry trends and dispensing issues that are highly relatable.”

New Zealand DOs can access the webinars for free if they become an ODA member, Petrusma said. Membership is AU$272 for 12 months, which also grants access to the ODA resource library, dispensing calculators, troubleshooting forum and more. Non-members can access the live sessions for AU$55 per webinar.

Webinar Wednesday is on the last Wednesday of every month at 7pm Australian Eastern Time (9pm New Zealand Standard Time).
