Wellington glaucoma specialist and neuro-ophthalmologist Dr Jesse Gale has been appointed chair of the RANZCO NZ Branch for a three-year term, succeeding Dr Liz Insull.
Dr Gale works across private and public hospitals and holds academic roles at the University of Otago Wellington. He has previously served in several RANZCO leadership positions, including on the Glaucoma Society executive, the continuing professional development committee and as chair of the college's sustainability committee.
Taking on the role, Dr Gale said he was looking forward to building on the work of previous branch leaders.
“I’m excited about this chair position as I’ve always learnt so much from being in representative roles, and I’m very proud of the other colleagues who also contribute to the college,” he said.
“It feels like by demonstrating good thinking and policies we earn the respectful collaborative relationships that have been built up before.”
