Optos, a leader in ultra-widefield (UWF) retinal imaging, has appointed Alexandre Montague as its new CEO.
“Montague brings nearly 25 years of global healthcare, ophthalmology and vision care leadership experience, with a strong track record of building high-performing organisations, advancing innovation and expanding access to technologies that support earlier detection, prevention and improved patient outcomes,” Optos said in a press release.
Montague most recently served as CEO of Hoya Vision Care, leading a global organisation comprising 20,000 employees and 35 subsidiaries worldwide. Prior to Hoya, Montague held senior leadership positions at Essilor and Zeiss, building expertise across ophthalmic devices, optics, vision care and medical technology.
Commenting on his appointment, Montague said Optos’ commitment to innovation, clinical excellence and enabling healthcare professionals to improve patient outcomes strongly resonates with him. “If our focus is purposeful, making meaningful investments, for patients, clinicians and society, the results will follow,” he said. “If we act early enough, we can change outcomes for entire generations.”
