Silhouette is launching new collection Clear Sky, the first eyewear to use bio-circular material SPX Green+.
SPX Green+ is made from organic waste from agriculture, forestry and aquaculture and reduces carbon emissions by 60%, compared to the production process of traditional raw materials made from fossil fuels, said Silhouette. By using 100% renewable energy in the manufacturing process, the company further reduces climate impact.
“There is a major shift going on with consumer behaviour; the idea of sustainable goods and services is a priority. Clear Sky is our solution to a problem we all face with climate change, one frame at a time,” said Michael Schmied, Silhouette’s chief marketing officer and grandson of its founders.
For the campaign, ‘The world we want to see’, Silhouette partnered with model Arizona Muse, a passionate voice for environmental causes in the fashion industry. “I’m thrilled to collaborate with Silhouette, a company committed to fossil fuel reduction and crafting with materials that are better for our planet. This is a big step forward for the optical and fashion industries and the Clear Sky collection is everything I’m looking for in eyewear and fashion,” said Muse.
The eight shapes in the Clear Sky collection draw inspiration from the vibrant and translucent hues of thriving Mediterranean ecosystems, capturing the essence of natural diversity. Each piece is a celebration of nature’s beauty and a unique expression of cutting-edge style, from oversized feminine frames and vintage-inspired pantos to sleek, edgy cat-eyes and timeless rectangular shapes.
