Silmo Academy is calling the international vision care community to join them in Bali for its International Congress 6–8 of April 2026.
The scientific programme is structured around five key strategic themes:
• Putting people first – patient-centred care and evolving professional practices.
• Healthy ageing & presbyopia – WHO work plan, Global Vision Database and demographic challenges.
• Gaining a competitive edge in practice – clinical innovation and differentiation.
• Light management & myopia – the role of light in refractive development.
• Future advances in optometry & optics – AI, smart eyewear and med-tech transformation.
The two-and-a-half day programme features notable international speakers, including Dr Cindy
Tromans (UK) and Gabriëlle Janssen (Netherlands). Dr Tromans works as an optometrist at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital and is a honorary clinical lecturer in the University Department of Ophthalmology, University of Manchester. She currently works within the Emergency Eye Department and specialty contact lens clinics. She is currently president elect of the World Council of Optometry and is the immediate president of the European Council of Optometry and Optics (ECOO).
Janssen is an experienced optometrist and health policy professional with over 20 years of experience in both clinical and strategic leadership roles. As president of the ECOO, she represents more than 200,000 opticians and optometrists across Europe, promoting harmonised standards in education and clinical care.
