Melbourne duo Emma Buckley and Dr Natalie Boffa have created a new era of optical retail with the opening of their elegant and architecturally designed eyewear destination Six Six on Little Collins Street.
With a name derived from the metric measure of ‘perfect’ sight, Buckley said precision runs through everything they do, from the clinical care to the curation of brands and design of the space, reshaping what an optometry experience can and should feel like.
At Six Six, comprehensive eye examinations are supported by advanced diagnostic technology, including OCT and ultra-widefield retinal imaging, diabetic and glaucoma eye exams, dry eye assessment and treatment, contact lens fitting and more. An in-store mini lab supports a faster, more flexible service model, with same-day lenses and custom features.
But the practice is purposefully much more than tech. Buckley said the pair set out to create something that simply didn’t exist in Australia. “Natalie and I both came from the industry and we could see a real gap between the quality of eyewear available internationally and the experience people were having at home. Visiting an optometrist had become functional at best,” she said. “We approached Six Six more like a considered retail and hospitality experience than a traditional optical store, where everything is intended to feel calm, thoughtful and tailored to the individual. Guests are hosted rather than processed, guided through an unhurried journey where discovery, individuality and connection sit at the centre.”
