Optometry attendees can claim up to 14.24 CPD points by attending the second Women in Vision (WIV) conference in Queenstown in late November. Organisers said they were thrilled to be able to offer these CPD points after opening the conference to women in optometry and vision science, as well as ophthalmology, earlier this year.
Keynote speaker and conference co-chair Professor Helen Danesh-Meyer is a powerhouse when it comes to equality in the workforce and her influence in this space is highlighted as one of the top 100 in the annual Ophthalmologist Power List, said conference organiser Dr Liz Insull. Prof Danesh-Meyer is excited to see the powerful and meaningful relationships that will come from the conference delegates and invited speakers, she said. “This by-women-for women eye conference will not only provide a safe space for discussion, empowerment and encouragement for women passionate in eye health, but also room for fellowship and friendship.”
Themed ‘Visionary Women: Navigation Mastery’, this year’s conference focuses on pathways to nurture resilience, finding balance with family and work commitments and upskilling in the financial and entrepreneurial space. “By focusing on the specific needs and perspectives of women, we aim to empower women in eye health to navigate the distinct obstacles they face in their professional journeys,” said Prof Danesh-Meyer.
