Blind Foundation changes
The Blind Foundation has appointed Canadian John Mulka as its new chief executive, replacing long-term CEO Sandra Budd, who’s contract ended at the end of June.
For the past 11 years, Mulka has worked with the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) where he was regional vice president and executive lead for CNIB Guide Dogs. Prior to that, he worked in the not-for-profit sector, holding senior roles in organisations for amateur sport, at-risk youth, disease prevention and sensory disabilities.
Speaking of the move to New Zealand’s Blind Foundation, Mulka said, “The opportunity to live and work in one of the most beautiful countries in the world with some of the most genuine and friendly people was absolutely too good to pass by. I am quickly converting and have my All Blacks jersey ready for the Rugby World Cup later this year and I am very prepared to be humbled when New Zealand plays Canada in October.”
Mulka is expected to take up the reins towards the end of August, with chief financial officer Greg Hern standing in until then.
